The T20 format of the game is very much batsmen-dominated, however, we have seen some very interesting pay by the bowlers. Today we take look at the bowlers who have taken the most wickets in the IPL.

THE BOWLERS WITH THE MOST NUMBER OF WICKETS IN IPL
LASITH MALINGA 170 WICKETS IN 120 MATCHES:
First on the list is the legendary Lasith Malinga. Lasith Malinga’s yorkers and moreover his bowling action would give me goosebumps. During his IPL stint, Malinga has only played for Mumbai Indians, this just shows how important he is to the team. Malinga’s best bowling figure is 5/13. He has also taken 4 wickets in a single over 6 times in his IPL career. Just amazing.
AMIT MISHRA 160 WICKETS IN 150 MATCHES:
The first Indian on this list, Amith Mishra has taken 160 wickets in just 150 matches. Mishra has played for 3 teams in the IPL, while most of it has been for the Delhi Capitals. Mishra’s best bowling figure is 5/17. He has also taken 4 wickets over three times in his career. Mishra, very interestingly also holds the record for the most number of hattricks.
PIYUSH CHAWLA 156 WICKETS IN 164 MATCHES:
Chawla is not just known for his excellent bowling ability, but also for his endeavors with the bat. Chawla’s best bowling figure is 4/17 with an economy of 7.87. He has played the majority of his IPL career for KKR and was instrumental in their title-winning run in 2012.
DWAYNE BRAVO 153 WICKETS IN 140 MATCHES:
The West Indies all-rounder has taken 153 wickets in 140 matches. His best bowling figure is 4/22 and has also taken 4 wickets twice in his career. He is best remembered for playing in the yellow jersey and who can forget his catch song, Champion.
HARBHAJAN SINGH 150 WICKETS IN 160 MATCHES:
Harbhajan has played his trade for two teams in the IPL, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. His best bowling figure is 5/18 with an economy of 7.08. Harbhajan has also scored an impressive 3983 runs so far in the tournament.
R ASHWIN 138 WICKETS IN 154 MATCHES:
Another Indian spinner, Ashwin has taken 138 wickets in 154 matches. He also has 6 maiden overs and his best bowling figure is 4/34. Ashwin has an economy of 6.87.
BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR 136 WICKETS IN 121 MATCHES:
The first Indian pacer on this list. Bhubaneshwar has taken an impressive 136 wickets in just 121 matches. His best bowling figure is 5/19 with an economy of 7.24. This season Bhuvi will be wearing the orange jersey of Sunrisers Hyderabad and it will be interesting to see if he can add to his list. (I’m certain he will)
SUNIL NARINE 127 WICKETS IN 120 MATCHES:
The KKR payers’ bowling is as feared as his batting. Narine has taken 127 wickets in 120 matches. He has 3 maiden overs to his name. And his best bowling figure is 5/19. He also has an economy of 6.78.
YUZVENDRA CHAHAL 122 WICKETS IN 99 MATCHES:
The MI and RCB bowler has taken 122 wickets in just 99 matches. Chahal has 3 maiden overs to his name. His best bowling figure is 4/25 with an economy of 7.67.
UMESH YADAV 119 WICKETS IN 121 MATCHES:
Umesh Yadav has taken an impressive 119 wickets during his IPL career. Yadav has taken 4 wickets in a game, twice in his career. He also has an economy of 8.53, however, his 4/24, has the best part of his bowling stat.
RAVINDRA JADEJA 112 WICKETS IN 184 MATCHES:
Another player who is most famously known for donning the yellow jersey, Jadeja has taken 112 wickets in 184 matches. A proper all-rounder, Jadeja is also known for his excellent fielding. Jadeja has had 4 wicket hauls 4 times in his career. His best bowling figure is 5/16 and has an economy rate of 7.67.
SANDEEP SHARMA 109 WICKETS IN 92 MATCHES:
The Punjab-born bowler currently plays for the Sunsrisers Hyderabad. He has taken the wickets of 109 batsmen. He has an economy rate of 7.72 and his best bowling figure is 7.72. Sharma has also bowled an impressive 8 maiden overs in his career.
JASPRIT BUMRAH 109 WICKETS IN 92 MATCHES:
The fiery bowler has taken 109 wickets in 92 matches. He has an economy rate of 7.42 and his best bowling figure is 4/14, truly remarkable. It won’t be surprising to see him on the top of the list after a few years.
ASHISH NEHRA 106 WICKETS IN 88 MATCHES:
The veteran bowler has 106 wickets to his name. His 4/10, just shows what a fantastic player he was. He has an economic rate of 7.80.
VINAY KUMAR 105 WICKETS IN 105 MATCHES:
The Karnataka-born pacer has 105 wickets to his name. He has also represented India in all formats of the game. Vinay Kumar has an economy rate of 8.39 and his best bowling figure is 4/40.
