Fastest century in IPL. The skill and determination to achieve a record like that are absolutely insane. To hit a century in a T20 match is a pretty big deal, but to score on the fastest, you have to give it to them, these players are made out of something different. Today we will be looking at the top ten players who have scored the fastest century.
PLAYERS WHO HAVE SCORED THE FASTEST CENTURY in IPL
CHRIS GAYLE- 30 BALLS:
We all knew this man would be on this list, the only question is, is he there on this list more than once? (let’s see) This particular ambush was against the Kolkata Knight Riders Bowlers. These were the innings where he hit the record-breaking 175. As mentioned, these innings smashed many records, and one of them was the fastest century. Gayle took just 30 balls to score his century. He hit 17 sixes and 13 fours in that game.
YUSUF PATHAN- 37 BALLS:
Next on the list, is the Indian thunderstorm, Yusuf Pathan. We have seen Yusuf Pathan play many memorable knocks, however, this one has to be the best. In this match against MI, Pathan just 37 balls to reach his century. He hit 8 sixes and 9 fours in that game. However, Yusuf’s brilliant innings weren’t enough as Rajasthan lost the game by 4 runs. But we were thoroughly entertained.
DAVID MILLER- 38 BALLS:
The South African batsman, was absolutely unstoppable in the game. The RCB bowlers were hit all around the park by this man. RCB had put up a solid score on the board, and when it looked like the game was away from Punjab’s hands, out came Miller. Miller’s 38 ball hundred was enough to save the day, and get Punjab the victory. He hit 7 sixes and 8 fours in that game.
ADAM GILCHRIST- 42 BALLS:
Just like Chris Gayle, it was an absolute joy watching this man play. This particular inning was an absolute cracker. Before Chris Gayle had started to show his talent with the bat, it was this man here who was entertaining us with his incredible batting prowess. In this game against Mumbai Indians, Gilchrist hit 10 sixes and 9 fours and took just 42 balls to score his century. As we all can assume, DC won the game with 48 balls left to play.
AB DE VILLIERS- 43 BALLS:
The 2016 IPL was an interesting one or RCB. The finished second, Virat took home the orange cap, after scoring close to 1000 runs in that tournament, and ABD finished third on the list of the players with the most runs. This match against Gujarat Lions was an even memorable one, as both VK and ABD socred centuries, and also for how entertaining this match was. ABD was effortlessly hitting the Gujarat bowlers for a boundary. In that game, he smashed 12 sixes and 10 fours, and his 129 is one of the highest scores by an individual in IPL. Let’s hope that we can see him do this one more time.
DAVID WARNER- 43 BALLS:
The third player with the most runs in IPL, David Warner played an absolute masterclass of innings in this match. In this game against KKR, it looked like everything David touched was going for a boundary. His 43 ball century is a testimony to that. He went on to score 126 and guide his team to victory. Warner has won the orange cap a record 3 times.
SANATH JAYASURIYA- 45 BALLS:
The Sri Lankan hitman was absolutely sensational in this match. Both. his and Gilchrist’s knocks were in the inaugural edition of the IPL, so this gave us an idea of what an interesting tournament it’s going to be. Jayasiyua’s century game against CSK. The CSK bowlers did not know how to stop him, and he just went absolutely crazy. He hit 11 sixes and 9 fours in that game and went on to score 114 runs. Truly remarkable.
MAYANK AGARWAL- 45 BALLS:
This match truly showed us the capabilities of Mayank Agarwal. HIs century in just 45 balls, showed us how destructive he can be. In this game against RCB, Mayank hit the RCB bowlers for 7 sixes and 10 fours. He went on to score 106 and steer Punjab to victory.
MURALI VIJAY- 46 BALLS:
Just like Mayank Agarwal, this match was also the match that showed Vijay’s hitting powers. Up until then, people had classified Vijay as a Test batsman, but I’m sure after this match everyone’s opinion would have changed. His blistering innings against Rajasthan, saw him hit 11 sixes and 8 fours. Again his knock was the decider and gave Chennai the victory.
CHRIS GAYLE- 46 BALLS:
The last player on this list is none other than the “Universal Boss” I mean what is there to say about him, literally words cant explain this man, he is just a beast. In this game against Punjab, Gayle hit 12 sixes and 7 fours and went on to score 117. This is usual with Chris Gayle, it’s not a surprise anymore.
