ROHIT SHARMA’S TOP MOMENTS IN THE IPL

Rohit Sharma, one of the world’s greatest batsmen has had an interesting IPL journey so far. From slowly rising up the ranks at Deccan Chargers to being appointed the captain of Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma has done it all.

However, Rohit Sharma being appointed captain or scoring a century are not the most iconic moments in this batting legend’s IPL journey, it is the fact that he has won 5 IPL titles, and also he was the captain during the 5 title-winning seasons.

Apart from the impressive 5 titles, Rohit has also captained the Mumbai Indians to their maiden Champions League T20 trophy in 2013.

Rohit is also among the top 5 players with the most runs in the IPL, and because of all these achievements, he is rightly termed as the “most successful player in the IPL“.

Today we will be looking at the “hitman’s” most iconic moments in the IPL. So, if you are not a Rohit Sharma fan, then you soon will be, and if you already are one, please do not go crazy.

ROHIT SHARMA’S TOP MOMENTS IN THE IPL

FIRST IPL CENTURY:

A century is something no player will ever forget, but if you are Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, then I am not sure, because these two have scored so many, I don’t think they will be remembering their first centuries. But, your first century in the IPL is something else. We would expect Rohit to have more than one IPL century to his name, but at this current moment, he only has one. HIs maiden IPL century was against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Garden. His century guided Mumbai to victory and also it was Rohit’s response to the world, that he is an absolute class player. In addition to the single century, Rohit also has scored 39 half-centuries and is also on the list of the top 5 players with the most runs in IPL, Rohit currently has 5368 runs. Rohit Sharma is bound to score a century any time, so keep your eyes peeled glued to the screen when a Mumbai Indians match is going on.

MUMBAI INDIANS CAPTAINANCY:

Earning the captaincy is a big moment. It shows that the team has faith in you and they believe you to be successful and help guide the team in the right way. When Rohit took over the captaincy, the Mumbai squad had some really big-name players. Pollard, Sachin Tendulkar, Symmonds, but for the management to show faith in a 25-year-old, speaks volume, and oh, Rohit did not disappoint anyone (will speak about that later) Mumbai Indians were in a pretty bad position when Rohit took charge but he managed to take them out the bad form and guide them to their first maiden title. Probably the best decision the Mumbai Indians management team ever made.

FIRST IPL TITLE:

After Mumbai Indian’s disastrous start to the 2013 edition of the IPL, their then captain, the great Ricky Ponting stepped down and handed over the captaincy to Rohit Sharma. Mumbai was not in a good position, but Rohit guided them and managed to lead them to their first-ever maiden IPL title. Mumbai beat CSK in the finals to lift their first-ever trophy, and it also cemented Rohit’s position as the future leader of the Mumbai Indians. Since then, Rohit and Mumbai have never looked back, and they have only gone from strength to strength.

FIRST CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TROPHY:

Rohit and Mumbai Indians’ dream run did not stop there, they were excellent in the Champions League T20 Tournament as well. In the Champions League tournament, some of the best T20 teams face off against each other, and the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai managed to defy all odds and beat some of the best teams and lift their first-ever Champions League trophy.

SECOND IPL TROPHY:

The second IPL trophy won’t be as memorable as their first, but when you consider the fact that, the previous season was not a particularly successful one for them, then this becomes even more memorable. During the 2015 edition of the tournament, Mumbai had a pretty slow start, they lost the first 4 games of the IPL and it looked pretty downhill for them, but Rohit quickly changed that. Out of the remaining 10 matches, Mumbai won 9 of them and managed to lift the trophy a second time. This just shows how much of an impact Rohit has on the team, and how he motivates the team, and also how he has a positive influence on them.

If all these achievements have not made you realize that Rohit Sharma is one of the best in the world, then I don’t know what will. These are just some of his most iconic moments in the IPL, and it is based on my opinion. Rohit is still very young and has got a lot left in him, I am 100 percent sure that after a few years, this list will have to be revised.
