Virat Kohli is considered to be one of the greatest batsmen of the game ever. His ability to chase down any target and also set the tempo for the match is unmatched. Due to Virat’s great batting prowess, he has set many records, many of which might be impossible for someone to break in the nearby future. Today, in order to celebrate this man’s success, we will be looking at some of the great records he has set (P.S, there are many, but I have only selected those that are interesting)
KING KOHLI STEALS THE SHOW……… UNIQUE RECORDS HELD BY THE LEGEND, VIRAT KOHLI
Fastest batsmen to score 10,000 runs:
Virat Kohli holds the record for being the fastest player to many runs, and that too across all formats of the game. Virat took 213 matches and 205 innings to break this record. the record was previously held by the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar. Virat took 10 years and 68 days to achieve this record and faced a total of 10,831 balls, i.e he scores almost a run-a-ball, when you look at stats like this is when you realize what an actual beast Virat Kohli is.
Fastest player to score 1000 ODI runs in a single year:
Virat Kohli is also the fastest player to score 1000 runs in a single year. He took just 11 innings to achieve this feat. He broke this insane record in 2017 and it was previously held by the South African great, Hashim Amala. Virat Kohli was on absolute fire that year, and it seemed like every time he stepped up to bat, he was going to score a century. Virat’s best innings, in my opinion, would be the 157 against West Indies, where he absolutely tormented the bowlers and gave them no peace.
Most runs scored in an IPL season:
We have mentioned many times in our articles, 2016 was an absolutely phenomenal season for Virat Kohli and all RCB. Virat was scoring runs left, right, and center and was very well supported by Yuzvendra Chahal and his partner in crime, Ab de Villiers. In that season, Virat scored 973 runs, which is absolutely mental when you think about it. Kohl achieved this feat in 16 games. He hit 4 insane centuries and 7 equally good half-centuries. Virat had an average of 81 and a strike rate of 152. Only if RCB had won the trophy that year, it would have been a cherry on top, for their wonderful season.
Most ODI centuries in a calendar year as a captain:
Virat Kohli the captain holds many records that are unthinkable. ITts almost as thorough, when he steps onto the field a new record gets made. One of them is most centuries as a captain in a calendar year. He has scored a record 6 tons in both 2017 and 2018. The record was previously held by another legend, Saurav Ganguly, who managed to score 5 centuries. Virat Kohli has raised the standard so high that people always expect him to do something extraordinary.
the only player to score 4 centuries in consecutive home ODI’s:
In 2017, Virat Kolhi broke the record for most centuries in a consecutive home ODI match. Just to make it clear, it means Virat Kohli, managed to hit 4 consecutive centuries in home games, absolutely insane. He scored 3 against West Indies and the other one was against New Zealand. No other player has come close to matching this unique record, and I don’t think any other player will.
The first player to average above 50:
Very interestingly, Virat is the first player to average above 50 in ODI cricket. 82 batsmen have scored 10,000 plus runs, but Virat is the only player to average more than a 50. I don’t know what else you can say about this man, just absolutely insane.
Most tons while chasing in ODI’S:
All of us know Virat as the chase master, the player who can chase down any target. And that statement is extremely correct, this record just validates it. He has scored 26 tons in run chases, the payer to come second on this list is the great, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sachin has scored only 17 tons. As I said, Virat Kohli and chasing down scores is the same as a James Bond movie, Bond is always going to come out victorious.
Most ODI centuries before the age of 30:
Virat holds the record for scoring the most centuries before turning 30. He has scored 38 ODI centuries, which is absolutely insane. Most of his centuries have come against the West Indies. Even after crossing 30, it doesn’t look like this man is going to stop, Virat has only gotten better by age, similar to his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
I am certain that after reading this you will all be wondering what a legend this man is, and he truly is. Records do not mean a thing for this man anymore, and I doubt there are any other records left for him to break, just plenty more records left for him to create.
